NOTES TO VIDEO:

IPC Media are unlikely to publish my media product because of their low sales. NME, their largest rock, alternative and indie music magazine has dropped greatly in sales in recent years, with its circulation, including digital sales, currently at 15, 830.

Bauer Media would be most likely to publish my music magazine as their sales are still relatively high so could see benefit by also publishing 'Revolution'. Q magazine has a circulation, including those digital, at 48, 353. Kerrang!'s ciculation is currently at 33,024 and classic British Rock magazine Mojo is currently top of the sector with sales of 70,667.

However, it is worth noting that recent declines in sales of popular music magazines is due to the information existing on other platforms, and so the purchase to the magazine no longer needs to be made. Some of these platforms have been created by the publishers themselves, such as Kerrang! radio, as well as the rise in social media.

Out of all of the magazines that I researched, my magazine can be most likened to Q magazine and so the publisher most likely to pushlish my music magazine is Bauer Media. Q magazine focuses on the genre of pop music, as well as all upcoming artists. I feel as if this is similar to my own as my music magazine, 'Revolution', is a hybrid of pop music and alternative rock music.

My main artist, who features on both the front page and double page spread is and upcoming artist, with the article writtern detailing her debut album and potential future successes. In addition, Q magazine is published monthly at a cost of £3.99, where mine is almost published weekly at a price of £2.49. These are not very similar costs and publish rates, and yet I believe that Bauer Media would potentially publish my magazine on the grounds that my magazine takes a different approach.

The target audience differs between these two magazines and so the artists included would be likely to differ, for example, the features of 'Revolution' address a younger audience, whilst those in Q do not. This therefore explains the difference between the costs and publish rates, in the fact that the younger target audience do not have the disposable income that those older than them do, and so are more likely to be attracted to a weekly magazines if they cost less than those released monthly.
