Formed in the 1980's and popularised in the 90's, this genre of music targets smaller/less known artists, whom are either unsigned or signed to smaller, independant record labels.

A growing and present genre of music based off of the advances in technology avaliable. The use of electronic instruments and newest forms of technology and software allow this genre to exist. Advances within the early 21st century mean that this developed sound of music produced off of laptops, for example, making it popular in nightclubs/bars/festivals and is particulally popular amongst young people.

R&B/SOUL
Rhythm and Blues is a popular African American genre of music which relates to the style of music which has developed from electric blues, jazz and gospel/soul music. Originating in the 1950's, the genre of music begun with lyrics detailing the pain experienced at the time and needs for freedom and joy by African Americans, although in modern day, this has evolved to predominately successes and failures in relation to relationships.
