CONTENTS page analysis #2
Q MAGAZINE
The masthead of the contents page is the name of the magazine, and then the title of the page, 'contents'. By having the name of the magazine in the top left corner, a consistency is maintained throughout the magazine, and its many issues, as well as maintaning the house style.
The term, 'features', is in the same font as the name of the magazine, in white font upon a red background, and written all in capitals. This also maintains the consistency, and allows it to stand out in comparison to the sub-headings.
The main image on the page is of Dave Grohl, a member of the Foo Fighters. This image, along with the one of him on the front page of the magazine, shows to the reader that the main feature of this issue of the magazine is based around the Foo Fighters. The photo is a long shot, whereas the one used on the front page is a close-up, and is an action shot instead of being posed.
The red bold lines separate the articles on the contents page, making each stand out individually, and allowing the sub-headings, written in black, bold font, and in capitals, stand out further. All of the sub-headings are a name of a musical artist, so that the reader can read the articles based on the artist they are about, making them seem more interesting.
Other images on the page include other artists featured in the magazine, including The Vaccines and Biffy Clyro, these indicate that these articles are also important. These images are smaller compared to the main image, and are photos where the people are posing to indicate that they are not as important as the main feature of the Foo Fighters. The other images are of pages inside the magazine, to give the reader an insight as to what can be found, and to make the magazine even more intriguing.

The number 72 is eye-grabbing for the reader so attracts their attention instantly. This indicates that this page is the most important, or interesting, in the magazine, as it relates to the main article, based around the Foo Fighters.

The footer of the magazine tells us the issue of the magazine, the page number, and then the logo of the magazine.
