LYRIC ANALYSIS OF SONG CHOICE

SWEDISH SINGER MY HAS HAD HER MUSICAL STYLE DESCRIBED AS 'THE CHEMICAL ROMANCE FRONTED BY KATY PERRY'.

HER MOST RECENT ORIGINAL SONG, "WHITE WATER" FEATURES ELEMENTS OF REALISM, AND TELLS THE STORY OF ATTEMPTS OF  SAVING A TOXIC RELATIONSHIP. THIS IS THE SONG WE HAVE CHOSEN TO CREATE A MUSIC VIDEO FOR.

WE DISCOVERED MY IN A RECENT CONCERT, AND HAVE DEDICATED OUR TIME TO FINDING HER SOCIAL MEDIA AND ORIGINAL SONGS, PRIOR TO CASTING THIS DECISION.

You are chaos breathing down my neck,

you tried to tear down all my fences while I auto-correct,

all of my emotions.

Cos it seems like I am frozen

just to make me want to come alive.

You're the fire trying to melt me down.

Melt my frozen river make you run wild.

Smoke coming out of my lungs and waiting, screaming,

for someone to come save me from the river.

Drowning in white water.

I keep drowning in white water.

You're a cyclone, spinning me around,

I tried to run away but always seem to find my way back in to your attention,

but don't make up assumptions,

I was never yours to keep and you're not mine.

You're the fire trying to melt me down.

Melt my frozen river make you run wild.

Smoke coming out of my lungs and waiting, screaming,

for someone to come save me from the river.

Drowning in white water.

I keep drowning in white water.

Oh make me wild (x4)

Your white water trying to melt my frozen river make me run wild.

Smoke coming out of my lungs and waiting, screaming,

for someone to come save me from the river.

Drowing in white water.

I keep drowning in white water.

Oh make me wild (x4)

Drowning in white water,

I keep drowning in white water.

MY - WHITE WATER

Haunted, obsessed, following.

Technological, she is in control of changing. Contradicts element of natural occurrences.

References to natural and geographical events throughout. Notes the issue of love as natural.

Creates imagery, struggling for breath, claustrophobic, breathing is the most essential part of life.

White water can be overpowering and overwhelming. Drowning in exaggeration of emotion.

Controlling, trapped in a toxic relationship

Simile

Metaphor, creates pathetic fallacy for sad and anxious emotions.

White water itself is a metaphor for the person she is with, the surface of fast moving water. Most only see what's on top, and can present danger.

Removing boundaries

Repetition puts emphasis on 'white water', and encourages the struggle of the 'drowning'.

Feature water, stream, shower, sea, rain etc.

Feature repetition or close ups, as music intensifies.
